It begins with an immersive visit to the Thermal Power Plant, following the tour "Energy: The Great Challenge of the Present." This projection explores current challenges in the field of energy, emphasizing the importance of renewable sources and technological solutions to tackle climate change.

After the projection, participants will visit the Granollers heating network, an innovative, state-of-the-art system that utilizes forest cleaning residues to generate energy. This system converts biomass into heat to warm water for schools and public facilities in the municipality. Inaugurated in 2020, this infrastructure has been highly successful, with imminent expansion plans due to the significant energy savings it has provided.

After a morning full of discoveries, participants will have free time for lunch, with the option to consult a list of restaurants at visitgranollers.com

In the afternoon, the visit is complemented by a self-guided tour of the various activities available in the city.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES

After exploring Granollers' industrial heritage with the visit to the Thermal Power Plant and the Fàbrica de les Arts, we suggest several options to make the most of your afternoon by discovering the city's museums and cultural spaces.

Museu de Ciències Naturals de la Tela

If you're interested in learning about the region's biodiversity and ecosystems, the Granollers Museum of Natural Sciences, located in Parc de la Tela, is an excellent option. This museum offers an engaging journey through natural sciences, allowing visitors to connect with the environment through exhibitions, research projects, and educational activities. It's a perfect way to complement your morning with a nature walk while exploring the relationship between natural landscapes and Granollers' history.

Ruta audioguiada del Bombardeig de Granollers

This could provide an interesting contrast, as this self-guided audio tour takes you through the Granollers that endured multiple air raids by fascist Italian aviation, which supported Franco's troops during the Spanish Civil War.

The route leads you to the most significant sites of the conflict, marked by key buildings, informational panels, and tiles engraved with the dates of the bombings as a tribute to the victims.

The 1936–1939 Spanish Civil War radically changed life in Granollers, leaving a lasting impact on the city. Find all the details on izi.travel

With these options, you can round out a day full of learning, transitioning from industrial and artisanal history to culture and nature while discovering everything Granollers has to offer.

If you visit during the winter season, you can conclude your day at Roca Umbert by watching the projection mapping show on the Thermal Power Plant's façade at 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Be sure to check the schedule, as this event only takes place in winter.

For bus pick-up points, we recommend:

  • C. Roger de Flor 64 if you're departing from the city center.

  • Av. St. Esteve if you've visited the Museum of Natural Sciences of la Tela.
